The 100-Day Countdown for 125th Anniversary of Philippine Independence
Last March 4, 2023, the National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) launched the 100-day countdown to mark the 125th anniversary of Philippine Independence at Emilio Aguinaldo Shrine in Kawit, Cavite.
I was invited to be a media partner for this event together with other Cavite content creators and I am very much honored. It is also my first time visiting the Emilio Aguinaldo Shrine. The program started at 5 o'clock in the afternoon.
Upon arriving at the Emilio Aguinaldo Shrine, a press conference was held at the museum grounds for the media partners at 4 o'clock in the afternoon.
It was on June 12, 1898, when the Philippine Independence was first declared after 300 years of Spanish rule at Emilio Aguinaldo Shrine. It has been 125 years since that fateful day.
The program proper started with the musical numbers from Banda Kawayan, Banda Matanda, Imusicappela, Bughaw Folkloric Group, and more.
A parade of flags representing local government units and other national agencies was also part of the program together with a marching band and Banda Kawayan.
Among the attendees for this event are NHCP Chairperson Dr. Emmanuel F. Calairo, Kawit Mayor Angelo Emilio Aguinaldo, and Department of Budget and Management Secretary Amenah Pangandaman.
"Samu's Saring Iisa" is the theme song for the 125th Anniversary of Philippine Independence. It was composed by Kent Charcos. Local artist Nyoy Volante, Mikkie Bradford-Volante, Lara Maigue, and Gian Magdangal sang this song and it was one of the highlights of the program.
The Philippine National Anthem was sung and there was a fireworks display to end the program.
This is just the start because a bigger celebration will take place for the 125th Anniversary of the Philippine Independence on June 12, 2023.
The NHCP is the national agency mandated to promote and preserve Philippine historical heritage through research and publication, conservation, heraldry, and administration of historic sites and structures.
